At Saint Clair, we’re all about art, culture and commitment to excellence. We’re a family of creative minds who have come together to craft a Premium London Dry Gin designed to awaken your senses and inspire imagination.
Over 30 years ago, Bruce and Alex met and fell in love in Madrid. Both came from the world of film and advertising, and since then, they’ve continuously nurtured their shared passion for art, culture, and creativity in all its forms. This passion has, of course, been inherited by their sons, Adrian, an art curator and tireless adventurer, and Gus, a multidisciplinary audio-visual artist with a background in business.
Two generations, two nationalities, the classic with the rebellious, the artistic with the business-minded, youth and experience. The St. Clair family is a fusion of dualities that complement each other, and they’ve combined their ideas and their passion for beauty and excellence to create their own London Dry Gin.
As they delved deeper into the process, they began to grasp the science of memory and how flavour and aroma can awaken vivid memories and create new, unique and memorable experiences, triggering a Proustian effect.
The Proustian effect, named after the writer Marcel Proust, refers to the ability of smells and tastes to evoke powerful memories and emotions. It’s the phenomenon in which a specific scent or flavour can instantly and vividly transport a person to a past memory and, at the same time, fix the new experience in their memory.
This is how they began searching for flavours and choosing botanicals that spoke of their history, combining their British and Spanish sides with their memories, and rounding off the recipe with vanilla, whose Proustian effect is scientifically proven.
The process wasn’t quick or easy; it took a year of dedication and constant experimentation to perfect their recipe. However, the St. Clair family was determined to create something truly special.
The result is Saint Clair, a sophisticated and exquisitely balanced London Dry gin, juniper-forward, subtle floral and citrus notes that unfold gently on one’s palate. Jasmine, orange blossom, and elderflower, along with the citrus notes of orange, grapefruit, and mandarin, combine for a soft touch of bitterness and sweetness. Vanilla is there to round off the recipe, add excitement to the experience, and give gin a new meaning.
